Pocket Pond

This spring, we needed a pond as a source of water to water our new young plants.

We had the beginning of a small pocket pond on our lot which Levi dugged out further by hand. It was not very deep so we knew that it would not hold water once the weather became dryer. We decided to dig down into the clay layer another six inches. Once he dug down further we left it for a few weeks. But since it was now deeper, I found it awkward to actually reach down to get the waterin my small pail . I also wondered how the frogs and snakes would access the water. So I asked Levi to dig some steps down to the water level. He placed a couple of flat step stones which created a completely solid step down.  A few weeks later the water cleared up and the 2 frogs looked very happy.
